Suicide within the EMS profession has gained greater attention in recent years as part of the focus on whole health among medics.  Because of the increased attention and limited research specific to the field of EMS, the opportunity exists for misnomers and ineffective prevention methods to propagate. Using a public health model with proven efficacy and applying it to the EMS profession can potentially reduce suicide risk by debunking myths and reinforcing evidence-based information.
