IC Credits - 1.5 Instructional Techniques

Instructors spend copious hours preparing for lessons and instruction to their students.  Many instructors are extremely knowledgeable in Pre-hospital care but lack basic rudimentary educational principals to effectively transfer information to the students in the classroom setting, in a manner that allows the material to be stored in the long-term memory.  Long gone are the days when we can assume that just because a person is a great medic, they will be a great teacher. Cramming more, in a shorter time effectively guarantees that the information will be forgotten.  Incorporating movement into the lesson plan exponentially increases the likelihood that lesson will be remembered and if we include music, we up those odds even more.  Finally, emotions are also crucial for learning. Without a healthy/safe emotional outlook, students will not thrive or succeed.
